Bago River Irrigation System Rehabiitation and Improvement Project
Description of Project | The project involved the rehabilitation and improvement of the existing Bago River Irrigation System (BRIS) in Negros Occidental that promoted agricultural development and improved income level of beneficiaries. The Bago River Irrigation System served 12,700 hectares of farmlands in Bago, La Carlota, Bacolod, Murcia, Pulupandan, San Enrique and Valladolid. The project expanded the BRIS coverage to 13,277 hectares of farmlands with some 5,301 farmers expected to benefit from it. The project had six components namely: system rehabilitation and improvement, improved water management, irrigators’ association development, institutional development, watershed management, and consulting services. |
